Driven by a shared vision to preserve cultural identity amidst the rapid wave of digitalization, Complex Design and several media colleagues in Jakarta established a strategic collaboration to build and develop PeciMerah.com. This news portal is explicitly designed as a comprehensive information hub that not only delivers the latest news and regional affairs but also highlights local wisdom, the preservation of Betawi culture, and the social realities of urban society. This collaboration aims to seamlessly bridge traditional values with a fresh, educational, and modern visual communication style that strongly resonates with today's generation. 1. The Essence of Collaboration Complex Design serves as a strategic partner in transforming the visual identity and public communication of PeciMerah.com (The Betawi People's Portal). Through a naturalist-modern approach, the team successfully integrated the accuracy of journalistic data with the aesthetics of digital art, thereby enhancing the reader's visual appeal without losing the local cultural roots. 2. Four Main Service Pillars • Visual Rebranding: Modernizing the identity (logo) to be more iconic, authoritative, and adaptive, while meticulously retaining the essence of the "Red Peci". • Journalistic & Comic Illustration: Creating original characters (such as "Bang Ocim") and comic strips ("Kampung Tigasuku") to convey social and cultural critiques interactively. • Data-Driven Infographics: Simplifying complex data (such as stadium statistics or public policies) into accurate and easily digestible visuals. • Media & News Assets: Designing responsive graphics to support the coverage of regional and national issues. 3. Portfolio Highlights (Case Studies) The resulting works cover a broad range of themes and deliver a tangible impact: • Sports: Technical and structured infographics for the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) during the FIFA U-17 World Cup. • Politics: Publication designs for the 2024 Vice Presidential Debate, prioritizing media neutrality and credible public communication standards. • Social/Humanitarian: Persuasive blood donation campaign materials in collaboration with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to encourage civic participation. • Economy/Public Sector: Transparency graphics for the Subsidized Groceries (Sembako Murah) program to improve clarity in local government aid distribution. 4. Technical Excellence All projects are executed to the highest standards, fully supported by three core competencies: mastery of Vector Design for highly adaptive, multi-scale assets; Digital Art for manual-digital illustrations and storyboarding; and Editorial Communication capable of translating scripts or raw data into a clear, decisive, and structured information layout.

Executing this project was a truly extraordinary experience. Through the application of painting illustration techniques, the Complex Design team is immensely proud to have contributed a masterpiece that represents our deepest reverence for the revolutionary figure, Alfred Russel Wallace—a pivotal figure who mapped the biodiversity across the Indonesian Archipelago, and the Sulawesi region in particular. METHODOLOGY & EXECUTION PHASES To deliver a highly comprehensive guidebook, we implemented a structured workflow divided into three primary phases: • Phase 1: Research & Textual Data Curation: Processing raw field survey data to meticulously extract essential itinerary points, primary destination coordinates, and catalog the endemic fauna in each transit region. • Phase 2: Custom Illustration Production (In-house): Creating hundreds of digital illustration assets with high artistic value to establish a premium visual identity, encompassing: o Historical Figures: A detailed facial reconstruction of Alfred Russel Wallace. o Endemic Fauna: Captivating and anatomically accurate illustrations of rare wildlife, including the Tarsius (highlighting its large eyes), Macaca (depicting natural gestures), Maleo and Bidadari birds (showcasing exotic plumage colors), Anoa & Babi Rusa, through to the Kupu-kupu Raja (Raja Butterfly). • Phase 3: Design, Infographics & Layouting: o Isometric 3D Maps: Designing tourism navigation maps that comprehensively visualize air, land, and sea routes (covering North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, North Maluku, South Sulawesi, and the Selayar Islands). o Typography & Layouting: Implementing a precise grid system to perfectly balance narrative and historical texts with illustrative elements, ensuring optimal readability. FINAL OUTCOME & CORE VALUES This project successfully delivered an exclusive, national-scale edutainment tourism guidebook masterpiece, featuring an earthy-toned color palette that authentically represents the wild nature of Wallacea. This book redefines the standard for government institutional publications—shifting from a rigid format into a practical, highly collectible guidebook for both domestic and international tourists. This achievement directly asserts the strength of our illustrator team in translating abstract scientific concepts into premium commercial visual assets. Furthermore, the success of this project simultaneously proves Complex Design's outstanding capability in building and elevating the creative industry in Indonesia.
